| Some of the most exciting and challenging areas of modern inquiry and discovery are occurring in integrative, systems and comparative (ISC) biology. Research in physiological function, regulation, and organization make up an essential center of ISC biology. Emerging new technologies and interdisciplinary scientific approaches have increasingly enabled researchers to measure and understand complex functions and processes. Multi-leveled and integrative approaches have profoundly changed research and understanding of organismal systems like growth, muscle adaptation, neural function, toxicological responses, and reproductive cycles and behavior. ISC biology is most effective and powerful with collaboration among researchers offering distinct expertise in approaching research questions. The primary objective of the ISC Biology consortium is to facilitate interaction, cooperation, and interdisciplinary collaboration among integrative and comparative physiologists and biologists |
